Andy Nuyen
Andy Nuyen
Reading the Bass Pro Shops catalog for as long as he can remember, Andy is admittedly a tackle junky. In fact, to this day he claims the only two things he’s read front to back are BPS catalogs and The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway.
Andy’s interest in competitive fishing began at an early age and he won his first tournament at age 15, on Lake Conroe. As much as he loved to fish, Andy was also addicted to the adrenaline rush and excitement of extreme sports; after obtaining his driver’s license just a few weeks later, he stopped bass fishing to pursue other hobbies including racing cars, wakeboarding and snowboarding.
Nearly 16 years after his first tournament win, Andy was reunited with his childhood passion in July of 2005 after catching a six pound bass on Lake Austin fishing from his wakeboard boat! Eventually moving to the Austin area the following month, he spent less time on the wakeboard and started fishing 2-3 days a week. Andy began promoting and directing local tournaments in 2007 and fished his first tournament trail in 2008. Whether on the water for fun or in a tournament, he looks forward to fishing every chance he gets!
Tournament Winnings: $38,671 (since 2007)
