Jake Read

Jake Read is the first junior member of the TTZ fishing team; if the name sounds familiar, it’s because Jake is the younger son of TTZ team member Dale Read. Jake is 14 years old and lives in Leander, Texas; he is an avid hunter and angler and often has a hard time deciding between trophy bucks or double-digit bass. If Jake had to choose between the two, he admits his true love is fishing tournaments with his dad.

Jake started fishing when he was 4 years old on Lake Travis, Lake Austin and Lake Georgetown. Success came at an early age and Jake was only 9 years old when he won his first tournament with Dale. Throughout the years Jake has learned many things from his dad; besides the art of fishing a Senko, Jake has also learned how to win and win BIG! His nine wins in 2008-2009 include two sacks over 25 pounds and one exceeding 30 pounds! In addition to big sacks, Jake’s greatest accomplishment thus far is his 10.05 pound bass caught in July 2009 from Lake Austin.

Jake’s well-mannered demeanor and talent extends much further than a bass boat or deer blind; he helped lead his basketball team to a first place finish in the 2010 District Championship when he was attending 8th grade at Artie Henry Middle School.

Jake competed in his first trail, Faith Angler Network, in 2010 and would like to pursue a fishing scholarship into college. He plans to continue fishing as much as possible and one day teach his kids how to fish…just like good ol’ dad taught him!
