James Roberts

James was born in Louisville, KY on December 31st, 1969; when he arrived home from the hospital, a rod and reel were immediately placed in his hands! His father taught him the art of hunting and fishing and made sure to always include his brother in any and all outdoor activities.

James attended junior college at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, TX on a basketball scholarship; then while on scholarship at Concordia Lutheran College in Austin he earned a bachelor’s degree in business. Although proud of his education, James would like to emphasize he is one of the VERY FEW on the planet that played a whole game against Shaq and did NOT get dunked on!

James started tournament fishing in 1995 at the local club level; from there, what was once a hobby became an all out obsession! Honey Hole, Pro Team, Fishers of Men, Tuff Man, Bass Champs, FLW’s Texas Tournament Trail…if it was a trail James fished it.

He currently lives in Austin, TX with his wife Lee, daughter Karlee (16), Buddy (lab) and Bella (chihuahua). If you’ve never met James, just look for the walking TTZ billboard at this year’s tournaments, there’s a reason we call him Big James and we don’t think you’ll disagree!
