OfflineAmen Crabb.
I remember it so well that I can tell you I was shutting my garage door (keypad) and juggling a cell phone, truck keys and coffee when the phone rang. I let it go to voicemail as I was shorthanded and returned the call back to my Dad on the way to work. He gave me the early news and by the time I rolled into the office at a large telecommunications company I worked for the second plane had hit the other tower.
We wheeled in a TV on a cart and watched the rest of the events unfold that morning. By lunch the entire organization was dismissed due to security concerns with high rise buildings in Dallas. The following day we returned to work to find that management expected business as usual and even drafted a company wide email to support their efforts. I was shocked at how they reacted without grasping the gravity of the situation.
Now come full circle I am watching the Cowboys game last night and noticed that said large telecommunications company had an extensive ad to remember 9/11. I couldn't help but wish I still had a copy of that email from ten years ago.
But you are right, never forget!

OfflineI was sitting in homeroom my freshmen year of high school watching as the second plane hit. None of us understood the magnitude of the situation at first, I remember thinking "was that a replay, how did they get it on film?" Our teacher 2nd period tried to conduct class as usual, but everyone was scared, confused and wanted answers. We were dismissed shortly afterwards.
Oddly enough, we had a freshmen football game scheduled that day, some sort of weird conflict that had it land on a Tuesday. I remember being pissed off that they cancelled the game, looking back, that was pretty stupid. It took days for the gravity of the situation to sink in.
I think another important thing to remember is the thousands of soldiers who have lost their lives in this now 10 year war that ensued following the events of that day. Only adds to the incredible impact that 9/11/2001 will forever have on our country.
