OfflineLooks like Falcon will come through the hurricane just fine. We were holding our breath to see if it was gonna be a wash out event and make fishing there this month or next a complete bust. Looks like everything is good per James at LFT. We will get a our date nailed down soon and post up. Andy is waiting to hear back from Charles Whited on the dates that work for him, as he'd like to join us.
Shaping up to be a hell of a trip boys!
July 1, 2010: The bulk of the rain has come and gone, and we got 5.80" from yesterday evening till this morning. That gives us a total of 8.20 in the last three days. The creeks around here are all running, and that includes the big creeks from Laredo to the Dam. There is still rain falling in our watershed around Eagle Pass, and it is headed towards Del Rio.
The Rio Grande is a bit swollen in Laredo and just north, but it does not look like a major flooding event is going to occur. Falcon has come up .32 feet in the last twenty four hours. I look for Falcon to catch a couple of feet overall from this event.
It is always possible that the storm center could settle above us as a low and bring us more water, but it doesn't look like it. It takes a lot of water to raise the lake at this level, and I just don't see a four or five foot rise looking at the river. Future rains could change my opinion.
I did say the other day that I would not be surprised if the storm turned into northern Mexico.. Seen it too many times. It is rare to see a storm cross the Yucatan and enter the Bay of Campechi and ever turn to the East.. Not saying it never happens. Just rare.. But when the scenario works out as stated above, the I will bet on La Pesca, Mexico every time.. Bulls eye..
I did not expect us to get as much rain as we did, and I was surprised when I looked at the gauge this AM.. But I'll take it any way we can get it.. We have been living the charmed life here at Falcon for the last few years when it comes to water levels.
Looks like the weekend will not be a total washout after all..
