Went to my lease in Lampasas and hunted Saturday,  saw plenty of doe and some good young 8 pts up to 15-16 "s wide but decided to pass on them as my camera tells me there are bigger ones out there.  I think that camera lies most of the time though.  I did waste a racoon stealing some corn that ought to save me a shiny nickel in corn cost over the next few months.  I did have a great time hanging/drinking w/ the guys at the ranch and eating like a king.

My bro and I decided to drive to Brenham for the Sunday evening hunt and as usual in Brenham we didnt see a damn thing. I yanked the card from my camera and was amazed how many bucks were coming the previous days and at all times during the day so we decided to crash in the truck and hunt Monday. During the morning hunt we both saw several good young bucks w/ long tines but we decided we were looking for a spike that has been a corn hog the last few years and 3 specific bucks especially the one we call grandpa which has been around for a long long time.  The camera showed the spike coming to my feeder everyday at 9am.   The reason he didnt show up to my feeder until 9 is because he was at my brothers from day light til then, needless to say he didnt make it to my feeder, my brother shot him.  The action slowed around 10 and we decided to get out and clean the spike, just about that time I saw a nice bobcat crossing the sendero.  I've never seen a bobcat while in the stand and decided what the hell so I took him.

After cleaning the spike and eating some lunch we were back in our stands by 2.  At 3pm, I caught a glimpse of grandpa crossing just in front of my feeder but I was too late, he had already crossed the sendero and was heading my brothers direction.  I've been hunting that deer for 2 years and that is the first time I saw him not on a camera, so I was pretty pissed, solution: down a stonie and shoot my brother a text to keep his eyes open cause he was heading in that direction. 10 min's later I hear the shot I had a feeling was coming, grandpa went down.

Not a bad day of hunting in Brenham, usually we see nothing there so to come home with 2 deer (although not mine) and a nice bobcat I was pleased.  Needless to say the rut is on in Brenham.

Sorry for the blood in the pics

My brother Keith strikes again, this time out by Thorndale.  8 pt that scores 130, 11 + inch G2's, 16 1/2 inches wide.  I'm glad he is out of tags, maybe I can shoot something now

Hey Robby,

Looks like y’all had a good hunt in Brenham. We have been seeing more deer in the neighborhood than ever before. I have corn in an old protein feeder in my back yard that a few deer visit during the night. You gonna stuff that kitty? I have always threaten my wife that I ever shot a bobcat I would get it mounted and put it in our dead deer room as she calls it.
