Low Water Pressure/Overheat alarm

Running an '06 Yamaha HPDI 225, it's very common for me to get an overheat alarm on Lake Austin due to loss of water pressure.  At first I thought I was just sucking up debris or getting clogged up with accidently running over some surface grass/debri, but this is becoming too common.  My water pressure even will drop after hitting a wake sometimes.  Most of the time I sit there and plow for a while until the water pressure jumps back up, then I'm good for a while.  Yesterday when I was on Lake Austin it happened almost everytime I ran somewhere and lately it has become a real nuisance as it seems way too common.  This ONLY happens on Lake Austin which makes me think it has something to due with grass or getting clogged with debris.  Does anyone else have this problem or know what could be going on?  Thanks in advance for any suggestions/tips.

David

My last Yamaha had the same issue on LA (only on LA).  If you have replaced the impeller then I feel it is probably just the grass/debris.  I think it gets so chopped up out there it just clogs everything up.

Same here on the '04 300 Yammy I had on my Champion.  Only happened on LA, and probably for the same reasons y'all are thinking.

Does it go off only at slow speeds? What does your water pressure read when running 5-15 or 15-30 on the gauge. I had a problem with mine and there is a spring that is part of the low water pick up that may need cleaning out. It is located on the back of the motor under the cover way down low if that is your problem. I have a 07 250 HPDI.

I was having a lil problem on LA also. When I would start the boat it would start and then cut off, it would do that a few times then it would run like normal. I wonder if the grass is playing tricks on me… I will be out there in the morning and the after noon I will let you know how it goes.

That's exactly what was wrong with Matt's 250 yami poppet valve there is a link on Bass Boat Central that gives a detailed diagram of how to replace it and or access it.
