So this weekend i demoed a boat at the coast, and it had a Talon on it.  Just to start off it looks cool, and that's all the good i can say.  First of all if you fish out of the back of the boat you have to dodge it at all times up or down.  This anchor is not like the Power Pole where even if you aren't using it you can still deploy it to get out of the back seaters way.  The talon is in a fixed upright position, and has a telescoping rod that comes out of the mast and sticks in the ground.  I used it in about 1 foot waves in the bay for about an hour granted the boat did not move but when i went to leave i could not get the rod to reinsert into the mast.  After i got back in the water and manually forced the anchor into its self i proceeded back to the ramp.  Once on the trailer i had to force the Talon the rest of the way in to its non extended position.  I think that the telescoping rods bent under the movement of the waves and would not seat back within its self.  Don't base your opinion on my post if you get a chance try it yourself.

Thanks for posting this John.  We are considering one for the Legend, and hadn't really heard from anyone that has actually used one.  They look bad arse for sure, but sounds like a little more R&D may be in order.  I am confident in Minn Kota…they'll get these issues fixed.

Dale, did you ever end up getting that talon on your boat? Just kind of curious I've read some mixed reviews about them.

Got to see the Talon last night on Dale's boat. Looks to be pretty solid and it definitely looks badass!

I have had my Talon for a while now and I really like it. I have not lost contact with the bottom like I did with the power pole, and I like the feature about pushing the down button 2 times before it deploys. It will help with shortening your pole on pavement.

For accedintal deploys feel free to ask Landon Glass, or just look for the drag mark on your way to Fish Finders Marine comming from Rudys BBQ. OOPS
