OfflineTook my first trip to Lake Falcon this weekend. It was the best and worst trip I had in a long time. Weekend started out with good numbers of fish in the 2 to 4 pound range with one 6 pounder and one that went 9.5 lbs. Most fish came off points in 18 to 25 foot of water off of C-rig Zoom Brush Hogs. We caught a lot of small fish up shallow with crankbaits early around the trees but not many big fish.
Now to the Bad part. Woke up Sunday morning went outside to take the cover off my boat and saw that it had been cut in two. Went through the boat to find 12 rods and my Humminbird 998c SI gone. Looked at the console and they cut the plug off with a knife. They didn’t take any tackle just rods and GPS.
Good thing I have Insurance. All totaled up the hit me for over 7,000.00 dollars.
I called the police and they came by and made a report and said I was the 2nd boat hit that morning. He also said that the OSO Blanco hotel is the only place they have this problem down there. So if your planning a trip to Falcon I wouldn’t stay there if I was you.
Any way here are a few pics.

OfflineHey man sorry to hear about what happened to the boat. Can I ask you a few questions because I have been down there a few times and never had a problem. Was there a lot of boats at the hotel. Do you have a locker bar? Was your 998 in dash or mounted on the side. Also who do you have for insurance? The reason why I asked that was because I was talking to my insurance and they told me that they would inky cover up to 1000 per item. So i asked about my gps and he said that they would only give 1000 bucks for it. Just wanted to see how they handled you. Thanks again and sorry to hear that…

OfflineThat sucks, Oso is the only place I have stayed there, never had any problems, but could see how there could be with the bar that they have there. Last time I was there I was woke up around 12:30 to someone turning my door handle, that would have ended up bad for them, but by the time I got to the door no one was there though there were 5 police cars with lights flashing over at the bar. I would suggest to everyone to check into an alarm for your boat. They make a motion sensor that you can place in a rod locker with the sounder in your room, it goes off, you come out guns blazing! Something like this….

OfflineI was parked on the road side of the building down on the end by the RV park. there were about 15 other boats in the lot. I did have a personal effects claws on policy the should pay for most of my rods that they took and the GPS is covered under Hull part of the policy. I did find out that rods and reels are not covered under the unattached equipment part of the policy but i should be ok.

OfflineNice report Justin, hopefully your bad experience will not deter you from going again. In the 20 plus trips I've been on I've had 0 problems. I can see that bar being a problem around Oso though. Personally I like staying near the dam at Falcon Heights or camping at the state park but you have to prepare to stay down there since it is 30 miles from town.

OfflineWe've been going down to Falcon since I can remember. I learned how to fish a plastic worm on Falcon somewhere around the age of 10 or so. We've always stayed at Falcon and have never had a problem. The reason why, we always taken everything of value out of the boat at night. It is a pain in the butt though, especially after fishing all day but it's a nice feeling knowing that your stuff is going to be there when you wake up. Glad you caught some fish man!. We'll be heading down in a couple of weeks and I can't wait.
James, I bet whoever turned your door handle would of been pretty surprised if your door would of opened. It's not every day you get to see a sasquatch in person.
