Well after getting my butt kicked on Travis for the last 4 weeks (including tournament day) I decided to hit up Austin and check it out.  I haven't been there since probably late September so I was curious about how the grass is doing.  Had I known it was going to Rain yesturday morning I would have waited til the afternoon.  Anyway I put in at 360 around 7:30 with only 3 other boats at the ramp.  Started fishing south beating the deep bank with a rattle trap with nothing to show for it.  It was drizzling pretty good and I was more in search mode than fishing mode.  Water temps right at 60 deg heading south.  I decided to head north for the grass.  Swung in by Ski shores up in that little creek and saw several males under docks and swimming around.  Picked up one 3lber on Wacky rig.  Water temp 59.  Headed up around the bend and got into the grass and seen alot of fish up shallow in the creeks and inside grass lines.  Pitched a jig, rattlesnakes, senkos and others just to have the fish look at it and swim off.  Seems like the males are pulling up getting ready to make beds!!! Off the water by noon. This is going to be an exciting month on Austin!!!  Saw several other boaters puching the grass and flipping.

March 3rd is right around the corner and cant wait!!!  The sacks coming in that day should be awsome.

I have a love/hate relationship with these little green monsters and would'nt trade it for any other sport!!!

Thanks for that report. I think March 3rd will be a great time. I can't wait to see the fish brought in that day. Better get those scales open early big girls will be coming in for sure.
