Lake Travis has been very tough for me this winter..  I found a few spots in practice before bc fishing drop offs on the lower end of the lake using Talon lures football jigs.  I could not catch any big fish but felt good that I Might catch 11 to 12 #'s.  Then the weather changed and the fish changed as well. I could not adjust  and the three keepers we weighted in showed .  I thought the cold weather would help push my fish back to the ledges . That did not happen , but we did scramble a little better this time. Congrats to the teams that figured the bite out .

It had been some time since we were on Travis, and had our plan to do some running and gunning.   First place we stopped there were already a few boats there, but still managed to pick up our first keeper on the way out. (on a finesse worm)   Our  next stop produced our big fish (6.49) on a football head jig with a Grande Bass Cannibal trailer.   Our next stop should have produced our 3rd keeper, but I dropped the ball on that.  I pitched the jig to the back right corner of a boat slip, and tried to catch up to the jig only to notice that my line had crossed over to the other side of the slip, right as I noticed that I felt the tell tale thump of the fish spitting out the jig!  This would end up hurting us when it was all said and done.  (assuming the fish was a keeper)  We then hit a dry spell for a couple of hours until Brian put our third keeper in the boat on a drop shot, which was it for the day.  With three fish for 9.53 we were one fish out of the money.   Oh well thats fishing and I did catch my biggest Lake Travis bass and it was in a tourney so that was nice.  Congrats to all that made some coin, and a big Congrats to our fearless leaders (Brian, Andy, and Robby) for one hell of an event!  Looking forward to LBJ.

JR

Post Script,

Belton still sucks!

Thanks guys,  it's always nice to catch your lake personal best during a tourney, and Robby you are exactally right,  who swapped out my 6.49 for the 4 lber I am holding?

Travis has been pretty good to Landon and I lately. Although we struggled to catch 5 keeper bass Sat. we were able to manage a top 10 finish. With the caliber of fisherman fishing the LSS that's an awesome finish. We didn't catch our first keeper until about 1pm. The jig was our bait of choice, 3/4oz football head. We tried the drop shot but could only get shorts. Like last week, Landon caught our big fish on a sienko, in the same exact place. Congrats to the winners and all the TTZ members who cashed. Awesome tournament guys! Looking forward to LBJ. The other guys better watch out!!!
