OfflineWell Chris and I had been out there for three weeks or so and up until the Sunday before the tournament we didnt have squat to show for it !! We decided to go up the river and boy did it work out , we had two almost 4lbs and 1 pushing 3 so we decided we had seen enough to know we where going to start there and spend most of our time up there on tournament day . We didn't do well anywhere else other than your average 2lbers .. So we drew boat 21 and was happy with that and when we got to our 1st spot there was not a boat up there but they soon came … On my second cast i caught our biggest fish almost 4lbs and then next cast Chris had a nice 5 plus lb catfish on a spinner bait we followed our plan and by 8:45 we had a limit on jigs .. we culled a couple of times but all in all we had 12 keepers and several short fish .. Most of our 5 fish came in the river … Great day on the water and Great ran Tournament !!! Congrats to all the teams in the money !!! It seemed like the top 5 teams where up the river !!1

OfflineGreat report Jared, thanks for the info. Spencer and I had about the same kind of results prefishing and decided to fish the upper part of the lake also. Our best results came from between tourny point and the split in practice so we decided to start on the one spot we did the best on and stay there till at least 11 or so. We didnt get a great draw at boat 99 but were still able to get on our spot and did as we planned. Spencer had a nice fish in the 3 lb range get off right at the boat soon after we got there, but that was it except for a few whites and short fish. Around 11 or so with no fish in the boat we decided to trust our instincts and just go fishing. With the water as warm as 60 deg in some spots we decided to concentrate on typical prespawn staging areas and it payed off well. We had our limit by around 1 and had several other keeps that didn't help, but just couldn't find a kicker. We went old school with light Texas rigged creature baits fished slowly to catch the majority of our fish. Congrats to all who were able to cash a check and to TTZ for a very well run tourny, can't wait till the next one!

OfflineJake and I went out and practiced the day after Champs from 12:30 pm til 5:15 pm. We managed a 11-13 pound sack from Tournament point down to Hurst fishing 1/2 oz Black and Blue Jigs with pro choice green pumpkin candy eager-craws trailers. We didn't catch very many fish but the ones we did came out of 1-3 FOW in cuts around chunk rock on the banks. We had several trips in the 17-20 pound range pre-fishing for Champs in early to mid December above Dink to TP but those fish didn't seem to bite Saturday. It was impressive seeing the solid sacks of fish that came from the river Saturday. Jake had I zeroed last weekend when we ran up to check it out.
A big thanks to My Chihuahua Bites Salsa and Tracker Marine for sending out the Salsa for everyone to snack on at weigh in and Tracker marine for sending out what Jake thinks will be his Christmas present from me this year. It was a sharp boat priced to sell.
Congratulations to everyone who cashed a check in the first event and we'll see everyone at LA in March.
