A A ABrian Hughes and I decided to fish Champs this year, we went to prefish the weekend before Champs and concentrated on rock and docks (not hard to find on that lake) from mid lake to the mouth of the Colorado. We couldnt really pattern them as we caught fish in the main lake to about half way back in the creeks. When we got there in the a.m. the water temps were in the low 50's but by the end of the day it was creeping up to 60. Most fish were caught on the rattlesnake but we did catch some on the mega claw, senko, and crankbait. Best 5 went 19lbs anchored by this 7lber. Smallest fish of the 5 was 2.25lbs.

Fast forward to Champs this past Saturday:
Of course a front would blow in but it was nicer than expected. Got to checkin to find out it was a trailering event, guess I better sign up for text updates next time or give in and join Facebook. We ran the same pattern as the weekend before and plain just stunk it up, Brian had several breakoffs (brand new BAD spool of Invisix) and we had several pull offs but it just didnt happen. Toward the end of the day the creeks we were concentrating on started to warm but it just wasnt enough to get them back there. Ended up w/ 1 crappy keeper. Major let down to say the least but that is the way it goes. I feel if the front hadnt cooled the water temps down they would have been coming to us. Either way I had fun and it was a nice day to be on the drink. Next up probably the worst lake in the state of Texas, Belton!!!! Cant wait and wish I was fishing Travis w/ y'all this weekend.

OfflineMan I don't know if I have ever been so frustrated in my life Robby! As can be the case this time of year the front seemed to completely shut down the fish we were on. To add to the frustration I spooled up with some brand new 15lb. invisix (which is normally great line) and you could break it with your hands. Still had a great time and the weather was way better than we were expecting.
