Jon Jackson and I went to Town Lake this weekend. My thought was LCRA would be filling Lake Austin so Town Lake would not have a lot of water running through it, and it would be warmer. We put in at 5:45 am to use the auxilury troll motor, getting us past the Congress Bridge in the cloak of darkness. COLD! Ice covered the boat. As we went up we noticed a slight current, they were generating at Tom Miller and at Longhorn dams. By the time we were getting close to Redbud the water temps were 50 to 49 degrees. We turned around in time to meet the howling SE wind. Jon was over acheiving as usual and had 5 keepers in the boat before I caught a fish. I was playing with some new baits and a new rod, both from Grande Bass. He was using a 1/8 oz spot remover jig head with a tiny craw Jerry used to carry and was kicking my butt. He had 10.5 to 11lbs in the boat. So, I let him off at the Lamar Bridge to get us street tacos from Taco Cabana. I do love fishing Town Lake. I caught an 18" spotty while he was gone. A few tacos and Lone Stars later I was ready.I ended up with only 3 keepers, but caught the big bass 3.5lbs. They were caught on a mega claws in watermelon red, a dropshot with a 4in indigo worm, and a wacky rigged 6in indago worm. I was'nt going to post this but after reading all of the others I think we did pretty well. DG

Good catch Don.  I saw some real nice fish in the area across from Zilker park boat rental.  They are right next to the bank in clear water.Their is a storm water drainage slab that runs into the water. Look in the waterr near the big chunk rocks and you will see the fish. You can park at wright field and walk to the water. If you walk down that same bank continue to look in the water and more nice bass are on that bank. Wear polarized glasses.
