Decided to check out the bite up the river so put in at Gloster at 6:30 am.  Fished humps, fence lines, docks, flooded huisache and rock piles from 2-25 fow without a single fish boated.  You can run as far as mile marker 55 past the Narrows ramp before it gets real shallow; I'm sure you can go farther if you stick to the channel but we didn't bother trying.

Threw topwaters for the majority of the morning and had one around five pounds come unbuttoned; nothing but perch bites on soft plastics.  Saw a bunch of gar, hundreds of them, up shallow in several areas.  Got off the water at 10:30, water temps around 89 degrees all morning.

As tough as the lower end has been it appears the river is even worse!
