I've got a bass replica I want made and a couple pair of antlers I want mounted. Can anyone recommend  a good taxidermist that you have used.

Thanks,

Z

Rut roh, did you stick a pig this weekend at Choke?

I have yet to catch a fish worthy of a mount and personally have yet to see a mount that has impressed me or had a very true likeness to the photo of the fish.  Eric used Dan Lansford out in Cedar Park and his mount looks OK.  I've been to his place one time and his shop was full of mounts and customer jobs so assume he gets a lot of business.  I'm sure if you google him you'll find all the reviews needed to make an educated decision.

I went to a private lake outside of Laredo this sat before my trip to Choke. The fish on my right is 10.6lbs, 24.5 long and 21 girth. The one on the left weighed 9.4. This lake was about the size of Bastrop main lake. I caught em both on a drop off of 10 – 24ft with a 3/4oz craw colored lipless trap with 20lb Seaguar fluorocarbor line.

Rick, I would HIGHLY recommend Lake Fork Taxidermy for a replica.  They are a little more expensive potentially, but their work is immaculate.  If you are like me, double digits come ONCE in a lifetime, so might as well do it right.  They do some cool habitat stuff, which you can see on their site below.  Can even do a coffee table!  Allow a couple months for them to do it, but I know you'll be happy with it.  They did a cool mount for Dean Rojas' world record 45+ sack on a tree.  There is a pic of that on the site I've attached below.  The one I had done is similar to the pic posted below, but a little more elaborate.  It has line coming out of the water off a stump with a baby brush hog in the corner of the bass' mouth.  Even has water droplets on the line!  Lots on the site have seen it, so maybe they can chime in.

+ 1 on Lake Fork Taxidermy.  They did a replica of my first 8lber, and the color on my fish was unique and they made it look just like it.   By the way that looks like a great day!

Ok.. here's the info. First, I didn't hit Falcon. Second, thanks for the info on Taxidermists and good vibes. Last, I am working on gettin TTZ to this spot later in the Sping or next year this time of the season. I think we can make a hell af a show there. You guys have always made me feel welcomed and I respect you guys as friends and anglers. I gotta work on my contact to let ALL TTZ members "get down with the sickness". Private lake and all the crap that comes with it, give me time. But you (TTZ) are first on my list!

Tight lines and bring in the checks!!!
