New G Loomis Rods

This has been on the Loomis home page for a while now; word on the street is they are developing a new construction process which uses a higher modulus graphite as well as a new resin system.  But enough with the flux capacitor talk, the end result is supposed to be a rod that is 20% lighter, 20% more impact resistant and 20% more sensitive than GLX!  G Loomis states they will be able to deliver the same action and feel of an 845 (arguably one of the BEST rods in the BCR GLX lineup) at 2 powers lighter.

I'm not sure how sensitivity is measured but if you've fished a GLX you know there are very few rods that even come close to its sensitivity.  The rods are also supposed to incorporate split grips and a new blank color.  My guess is they are heading towards the styling trend of the Shimano Cumara and Cumulus sticks.

The new Loomis flagship rods are set to debut August 13, 2010 and are estimated to be around $500…better start saving your pennies now.

A new rod better than GLX???  WHAAAAAAT?!?!

NRX (Nano Resin X) debuted at ICAST and won Best of Show.  It's not the most cosmetically appealing rod but is supposed to be the tits when it comes to sensitivity.  I don't see how anyone that buys this rod can mount anything but a Steez or Core.

Looks like Shimano had a lot to do with the split grip design.

As for the prices:

Ridiculous price to go along with the ridiculous sensitivity!

That's crazy stupid.  Give me PT or a Cumara, if you cant feel them on those, just give up.  You shouldnt be fishing.

Have fun with that Tom!  I am very interested to see what improvements NRX provides over GLX so let me know when you order your first NRX 853 and 854.

By the way, just got a couple new Power Tackle rods in the other day and they are built on new blanks actually designed by Gary Loomis and not Shimano!
