Fished the ABM Thurs night tournament last night; 12 boats came out and a couple of 7 pound sacks took first and second places; Big Bass was 4+ and was also won by the first place team of David Bueche and his partner Frank.

The fishing was a bit tough last night and I think a lot of teams thought they had to swing for the fences after all the recent Travis reports.  It only took a little under 5 lbs to finish in the top 5.

16 teams fished the 3/31 ABM Thurs Night Tournament; it took over 11 lbs on 3 fish to win and the winners also had Big Bass of 4.6 something (they actually had two of similar size in their bag).

There were a couple of 8 lb bags for second and third and two bags over 7 lbs in the top 5; I think 7-4 was the cut off for the $50 ABM gift certificate.

It was a lean turnout with 7 boats for the 4/7 Thurs night tournament.  Our evening started off on the wrong foot when a 4 pounder came nearly out of the water and completely missed the Sammy, but we regrouped and put three keepers in the boat by 5:45.  It went donwhill from there as we were only able to muster three more 14" keepers and lost one about 2.5 lbs on a dd22.  The topwater bite is picking up on Travis and sooner or later that Sammy is going to get flushed!

Josh Wallace and his partner won again this week with another healthy bag over 10 lbs anchored by a 5 lber; David Bueche and Frank Vick finished 2nd with 7-11.

Lance Hale and his brother were 3rd with only two fish for over 7 lbs including the Big Bass of the night at 5+ lbs, Rick Angrick and Gerald McClanahan came in 4th with 5-11.

Mike and I finished nearly dead last with 5-5…but we had enough to squeak into the top 5 for the ABM $50 gift card and received the $50 Ranger bonus.  It's not often you get rewarded for finishing last but I'll take that blessing!

Thanks ABM for hosting this tournament, the 3 hour/3 fish format is a nice break from grinding out a limit Tues and Wed nights.

Andy…  Thanks for the posts and the kind words in support of Austin Boats and Motors…  We are hopeful that we get back to 15 to 20 boats tonight and through the weeks ahead…

As a reminder – you need to fish in 7 of the 12 events to be eligible for the series championship in September or October - unless of course you win one of the Thursday nighters or you have fished in one of the Thursday nighters out of a Ranger boat that is owned by you…

See y'all on the water tonight…  5:00 registration…  5:30 first cast…  8:30 weigh-in…  Mansfield Dam!!!

The turnout tonight may be lighter than normal due to the lake being off limits for the FAN Tournament on Saturday.
