OfflineWent to fish the first South Champs of the year with Dean Alexander and had a great time. We drew boat 116 and off we went cold turkey. Water temp was 54 with 10 foot visibility and a North wind blowing. We fished for a good part of the morning without any takers. We moved over to a ditch and I broke off a good fish after it got me hung up on a rig with a 10 inch watermelon candy power worm. We continued fishing without much success until I changed to a light finesse c-rig with a finesse worm, I finally landed two small keepers in 10-35 foot dragging it off the flat to the creek channel, then Dean gets fired up on a t rig. Dean catches a few and we start feeling like the fish are going to get turned on so we go back to the main fiat and run it again and Dean hooks up on a blade with a solid keeper. We run to another area and I catch a keeper on a mag fluke on a wide gap weighted hook. Dean catches several on a Senko in our second area and the fish turn off again. We head back to our 1st stop thinking now is the time and we start catching fish again, we cull 4 or 5 times using a blade and our time expires and we make the run back to weight in.
As alyways the big pond is a great place to fish even with 200 boats.
