Bass Champs Championship on OH IVE

Got back late last night from working for Bass Champs TV on OH IVE. It was a killer time and will be a great show when it airs sometime early next year on the Outdoor Channel.

OH IVE is an amazing lake that holds a lot of big bass. I saw big sacks, a 13 lbs and a bunch of 10 lbs.

On day 2 I got to film all day with Tim Reneau and Chris Jaynes of Power Tackle rods who after day 1 found themselves in 2nd place out of 190 boats. Got to see a level of concentration and skill on the water that was amazing. Also, not to mention after Sugar lake I thought I had seen all there was with Power Tackle rods. Man, was I wrong. You will have to wait for the show to see for yourself!!

Off to Cedar Creek this weekend, I am sure I will see a lot of you guys out there. Good luck.

I talked to my old team partner out in Big Springs last night about the championship.  He'd been pre-fishing the lake all Summer and tellling me what he'd been catching.  Unbelievably 7-10 lbs consistantly, in two months 7 trips they boated 4 10's and five 9's, but prior to the off limits the bite began to change and the big fish he had been catching were moving.  During the two days they had two cold fronts move through and the teams that figured out where the fish were holding obviously got the big bags.  Stinks putting that much into pre-fishing and come up with light bags especially after having such a good pre-fish, we've all been there before.

I fished the lake in July for three hours and my best five were in the 23 lb range and I didn't go but maybe 500 yards from the ramp that I launched at.  I spoke with a local when I was loading and he told me that he saw three fish in one hour that weighed all of 10lbs each and managed one on a fluke.  Definetly a lake I want to fish next year just wish it was closer.

I live in san angelo and we fish it fairly often… That lake has as many 8-12 pound fish as anywhere. If you havn't fished it your missing out. Last time I went was about a 6 weeks before bass champs we caught a 9, a 6, and had a couple BIG blow ups on kermie…
