Here's a new trail coming out next year to compete with Bass Champs; it provides non Skeeter owners pretty good incentives.  Looks like the old TTT reborn:

http://texasteamtrail.com/

March 10 – Rayburn

April 7 – Ray Roberts

May 5 – Livingston

June 9 – Lewisville

$250 entry with an optional $100 Angler Advantage/sidepot; 18'/150 hp boat guaranteed for 1st at each event.

The only date that conflicts with the TTZ Tournament Trail is the April tournament on Ray Roberts.

Now that is interesting, still wish there was an affordable individual format for our area!

I'm honored to serve as Tournament Director for this exciting new trail. It's likely that the April date will be changed since it's Easter weekend and it conflicts with the LSS north division. I hope many of you can fish a few of these events. All events are nationally and regionally televised. Contingency awards for owners of 2008 or newer Ranger, Stratos, Triton, Evinrude and Mercury. Championship event is scheduled for Amistad on October 20 – 21.

EVINRUDE SPONSORING TEXAS TEAM TRAIL
Newest Texas Bass Trail to Begin March 2012

NORMAN, Okla. (February 14, 2012)
—Evinrude, a legendary brand that has been America’s leader in innovative outboard engines for more than 100 years, is set to begin its sponsorship of the newest bass fishing tournament trail to hit the state of Texas.  With large purses and incredible sponsor bonuses, the new Texas Team Trail is touting the highest team payouts in the state.  Set to begin on Sam Rayburn Lake in March 2012, the trail includes a notable and impressive lineup of sponsors.

“The support of Evinrude is extremely important to the Texas Team Trail,” said Mike Hastings, Tournament Director. “Evinrude truly understands the importance of creating a tournament trail that benefits any angler. We’re excited to have them as part of the team and look forward to sharing a world of opportunities for anglers fishing the Texas Team Trail.”

The tournament circuit, designed exclusively for team competition, will begin March 10th, 2012, and will include a total of four qualifying events, plus a year-end Championship. The Texas Team Trail website is already accepting registrations for all events online. The website offers plenty of detail on the circuit, including official rules, tournament structure, payout and incentives.

“This is a tremendous chance for anglers to test their merit against some of the best fishing waters in Texas,” said, Chris Berg, Director of Marketing for BRP's Evinrude Outboard Engine Division. “It’s just the kind of environment that helps showcase the power and performance of Evinrude E-TEC, and why nothing enhances your experience on the water like an Evinrude E-TEC. We’re excited to help host such a significant series of events.”

The new circuit also includes unprecedented television and overall media coverage, not only within the Lone Star State but across the country as well allowing a national audience to watch the action unfold from each event throughout the season. Airing on multiple networks, the Texas Team Trail will be seen on The Texas Channel, World Fishing Network, Pursuit Channel, as well as the new NBC Sports Network.

Evinrude has been pushing the boundaries of what boat and marine engines can do for more than 100 years. From manufacturing the first detachable row boat engine to setting speed records and building engines and parts for the U.S. military, Evinrude has been among the most trusted names in boating.  Today, Evinrude has set its sights on helping consumers to experience more performance, power, and time on the water.  BRP's Evinrude engine line-up now includes engine models from 3.5- to 300 horsepower.  All engines are available at Evinrude dealerships worldwide.

Just want to thank all the anglers who supported the inaugural Texas Team Trail event at Sam Rayburn on Saturday. We had a great turnout (149 teams) despite the stormy weather and questionable forecast. The fishing was tough for most but the team of Phillip Crelia & TJ Goodwin figured em out and brought a 25.23 pound sack to the scales (anchored by a 8.71 lb. big bass) and claimed $25,750 for the win (Triton 18 SE w/Mercury 150 ProXS + $750 Big Bass). Denton Resident McClendon and Sanger Resident Thomas Win on Ray Roberts

NORMAN, OK (April 10, 2012) The Texas Team Trail presented by Cabela’s continued their 2012 season this past weekend on Lake Ray Roberts. Another successful tournament is now in the books as many more anglers took a shot at winning the fully-rigged 18-foot Stratos boat. Earning the win was Denton, Texas resident, Barrett McClendon and Sanger resident Rusty Thomas, with a weight of 31.21 pounds of largemouth bass.

Throwing wacky rigged soft plastics, the duo won the first-place prize of an 18-foot Stratos 189 VLO boat/Evinrude 150 hp motor/trailer package equipped with a Minn Kota motor/charger/Lowrance electronics valued at $25,000. As an added bonus, the anglers also pocketed an Angler Advantage bonus of $1,168, bringing the pairs total to an estimated $26,168.

“Ray Roberts was a little tougher to figure out than we had anticipated,” said Thomas. “Fishing pressure must have shut the fish down in the morning, but as the afternoon heated up so did the fishing. This is one of the best tournaments that I’ve been part of. The entire event is fun to participate in and we look forward to fishing the next one on Lake Livingston.”

Big Bass honors went to Kevin Crittenden and Shirley Ponder. The big fish was anchored by Ponder, making it her first and largest bass she’s ever caught. With the 11.55-pound bass in the boat, the mother/son angling team brought home a $750 prize.

“Once the fish hit I thought I was just hung up on the bottom,” said Ponder. “I’ve never caught a bass before using a lure, and my son rigged me up a 7-inch pumpkinseed worm. I was Carolina Rigging when the big fish hit. I don’t think I could fish for another 30 minutes. It was simply amazing how hard these fish fight. We look forward to fishing the other Texas Team Trail events for sure.”

Coming in second was James Martin and Kenny Moser with a bag of 24.07 pounds. The second place finishers came away with $5,272 of total winnings, which included $3,750 cash payout, $1,022 Angler Advantage payout, $250 Ranger Cup contingency and $250 Mercury contingency. In third place, with 23.07 pounds, anglers Heath Moody and Zack Parker walked away with a final payout of $3,162, which included $2,250 cash payout, $876 Angler Advantage payout.

“The Ray Roberts event was great, and the turnout was tremendous,” said Mike Hastings, Texas Team Trail tournament director. “Our sponsors really did a great job. Their outpouring of support shows the dedication to our sport of fishing. I really can’t say enough about the amount of anglers that signed up to fish. They fished great and showed up big time.”

The Texas Team Trail Team of the Year race winners receive paid entries for the following year along with custom designed Texas Team Trail Team of the Year rings. The TOY race is a close one with Phillip Crelia and TJ Goodwin leading the charge with 284 points. Steven Johnston and Dicky Newberry are in second with 278 points, and Jeff Reynolds and Redndall Bruce round out the top three with 268 points.

The sponsor list continues to grow with many great companies. Along with title-sponsor Cabela’s, Texas Team Trail have also welcomed Ranger®, Stratos®, Triton®, Lucas Oil®, Mercury®, Evinrude®, Minn Kota®, Talon, Lowrance®, Power-Pole®, MotorGuide®, Boater’s Insurance® and Angler Skins.

The next stop for the Texas Team Trail is Livingston Lake on May 5th. For additional information, anglers are encouraged to call 210-788-4143 or check out the TXTT website at http://www.texasteamtrail.com .
