His winning streak continues…congrats to Gilbert and his wife. He's obviously figured something out that the of us haven't. As far as my day, I would have rather been on Belton if that tells you anything. Spent 4 days per fishing only to catch a total of 4 fish plus one buffalo. The only saving grace going in was the fact that my partner had a good day a few weekends prior with the best 5 pushing 18-20 lbs.

Drew boat 10 Friday night which we were happy about since we had a few areas that we needed to hit first thing before it got pounded by boat traffic. Our excitement Sat morning was short lived as we went to hammer down on the gas pedal at take off only to have the motor spit and sputter then die, leaving us dead in the water. As we watched the other 61 boat hull ass past us, we continued to try and get the motor fired up. After about 30 minutes without luck, we decided to load my partners boat up and go get mine.

The rest of the story is history…..the whole day we had a total of about 3 bites. I caught one fish on a trap that came off at the boat; no size that I could see. We fished shallow grass all day with rattle traps. A majority of the field reported fishing shallow in 2 -8 foot of water. The Barnes brothers came in second with around 15-16 pounds fishing the shallow grass.

Kudos to Dean and his partner for catching one the few 5 fish limits reported yesterday. Tough day but as alway, someone will find them eventually. We'll try it again next year.
