TTZ – Travis Tues Night 4/21/09

15 teams fished, 6 teams weighed in and 3 places were paid.

Texas Tournament Zone rolled out our Lucky 7 Big Bass Jackpot this evening on Travis. If you haven’t already heard, we’ve thrown $250.00 into a side pot and will roll each week’s $5.00 Big Bass entry per team into this pot until someone catches a 7.77 pound bass (or larger) and wins the entire pot! This rollover could get huge and we can’t wait to see what happens.

15 teams showed up trying to break the mark on the first night. Although no monsters were brought to the scales, the always consistent team of Dale and Jake Read did manage a very nice limit and took first place with 14.52 pounds. They fished mid lake with Yamamoto Senkos and flukes and mentioned the last two keepers came just before the end of the tournament. The father and son team are on having an incredible year thus far and have finished in the money in 6 out of 10 TTZ tournaments. I guess those Senkos really do catch fish, CONGRATS again guys!

Second place went to David and Albert for their four fish going 9.72 pounds. The pair also used Yamamoto Senkos to catch their fish and reported seeing several other 3-4 pound bass cruising the shallows but unwilling to bite. Finishing third this evening with the only other limit were Dean and Travis; Dean reported catching a couple of their fish on a Bandit 200 crankbait before the team finished their limit using Senkos. The Yamamoto and Kinami tackle pack went to our old friends Don Gordon and Cody Greaney who had two nice fish weighing 6.86 pounds.

Most of the teams didn’t have any problems catching fish tonight as there were many small bass being caught shallow; a couple of the anglers even reported bedding fish so it appears Travis may be spitting out some big sacks very soon. Since no fish 7.77 pounds or larger was weighed the Lucky 7 Big Bass Jackpot is at $325.00 for next week. Thanks to all that came out and see you guys on the water!
