27 teams fished, 11 teams weighed in and 3 places were paid.
We mentioned last week there would be a 30 boat field and a 20 pound sack at this week’s Wed Nighter; we missed the mark by 3 boats but hit the nail on the head with the 20 pound sack. After the crowd witnessed a 5.97 and 7.67 weighed in for big bass, Jack Jr pulled out a monster from their sack that tipped our scales at 10.83 pounds! Jr then followed his double digit fish with a five pounder that came off the same bed! Mike and Jr went on to take first place this evening with a five fish, $400.00 limit weighing 20.43 pounds. They also won Big Bass and added another $135.00 to this week’s winnings. On a side note, Jr’s fish is his new personal best and was less than a pound from the Certified Arbor Care $300.00 11.34 pound bonus! The winners mentioned catching both fish off the bed using a Yamamoto Senko, congrats again guys!
Second place went to Steven and David for their 13+ pound sack. They brought in the only other limit and also caught all their fish throwing Senkos. Finishing in third place this evening were a couple of Austin celebrities; Clint Foster from Academy and Jordan Shipley, of Longhorn fame, used blue fleck Grande Bass RattleSnakes to catch their 8.67 pounds. Clint also mentioned all their fish coming off shallow walls on the shaky head. Alan Bell fished solo and took home the Yamamoto and Kinami tackle pack for his just out of the money finish. His three fish sack included a nice 5.42 pounder that fell victim to a Senko dragged slowly through grass sitting in 9′ of water.
Despite the lower than average weights this evening, Austin did give up a couple of other hawgs including Wade’s 7.67 pounder and Bryan’s 6.46 pound fish. Wade was fishing the edge of a grass line when the fish bit his Carolina rig and Bryan caught his fish dragging a Yamamoto Senko along a channel swing. He also mentioned his partner lost another fish in the 6-7 pound range later that evening.
