Sources from Japan state the news aired last night regarding the catch; the CEO of Deps, a Japanese bait company, interviewed the angler and has posted it on his blog so there is a good chance this is for real.

Location caught: Lake Biwa, Japan
Lake Biwa has produced several very large fish including one well over 18 pounds just a couple years ago. Reports also indicate a 25 pound bass was caught in a fisherman’s net earlier this year, so many thought it would be just a matter of time before a record size fish was taken from Japan’s largest (over 70 miles long) natural lake.
