10 teams fished, 7 teams weighed in and 2 places were paid.
While the temperatures continue to climb the bite on Travis has seemed to cool down. After half of the field weighed in double-digit sacks last week, five of which were over 12 pounds, this week’s teams struggled to find a limit.
Persistence pays off. David Bueche has fished three consecutive TTZ weeknight tournaments, and in the prior two events has been just ounces out of the money. Tonight he and his partner took home nearly two hundred dollars with their three fish going 9.87 pounds, David and Frank’s winning sack bested second place by over four pounds! Much like the rest of the field their tournament started off slow boating just one solid fish, it wasn’t until the end of the evening when the team fished a shallow point and caught their last two keepers. Congrats again guys and just in time to help pay off David’s new Lowrance HDS-8 unit!
Don and Cody took second with 5.72 pounds; this is Cody’s second week in a row to finish in the money. They fished marinas and caught fish on a variety of baits with the largest keeper coming out of 40′ on a drop shot. Eric and Robby were right behind with 5.49 pounds and took home the Yamamoto and Kinami tackle pack for their third place finish.
After the weigh in Derek Yamamoto swung by and chatted with a few of the guys. It’s always nice to catch up with one of our partners and see what’s new; speaking of new, check out the illuminated decals on his Excursion. It’s difficult to tell by the pic but the graphics light up and flash like a neon sign; watch for the entire FLW/Elite field to be sporting them soon.
Next week our Lucky 7 Big Bass Pot rolls over to $680.00, that’s nearly $700.00 for catching a fish 7.77 pounds or bigger! Thanks to all for coming out and see ya on the water.
