15 teams fished, 7 teams weighed in and 3 places were paid.
We’re not sure if it was the cloud cover, the lake level dropping another two to three feet from last week or both, but the fish were definitely turned off this evening.
Despite the slow bite, it was nice to fish in mid 90s temperatures instead of the 100-105 degree temps we’ve been used to over the past few weeks. Finding keepers was tough and all three teams in the money mentioned throwing various baits throughout the night to catch their fish. Matt Hill and James edged out Dale and Jake Read for first place by .03 pounds. The winners were fortunate to catch two of their four keepers on one bait in a single cast.
Our second and third place teams have both finished in the money several times this year; and even on tough nights always seem to bring in a good sack of fish considering the conditions. Congrats to Dale and Jake Read and Larry Pederzani and Rich McDonell for rounding out the paid places.
As of last night Travis is sitting at 643′ and according o LCRA Mansfield closes at 640′. However, TPWD indicates the left two lanes are useable to 622′ and spoke to park attendants who have stated the ramp will remain open until they are out of the water. Next week the Lucky Seven Big Bass Pot breaks the $800.00 mark and rolls over to $815.00! Thanks again to everyone that came out and see y’all next week!
