TTZ – Austin Wed Night 7/08/09

16 teams fished, 7 teams weighed in and 3 places were paid.

Fishing prior to a full moon usually means tougher conditions, but with the way Lake Austin has been treating our anglers we’re not sure if it can get any tougher. Although limits have been rare Austin is still giving up some quality fish – the problem is only Dale or Jake Read know where to find them!

For the past three tournaments the father and son team have brought in double-digit sacks to win for the third consecutive week. If that’s not impressive enough, Dale and Jake have also taken Big Bass honors with each of their wins! Tonight they only weighed in two fish, but the pair came in at 14.17 pounds with their biggest one at nearly eight pounds. Check out the video below as Dale walks us through another Wed Night victory.

Second and third places were very close with Blake and Waylon catching a five pounder just five minutes before weigh-in. Waylon caught their first two keepers on watermelon red Yamamoto Senkos; he later switched to a black/red flake Senko after dark to catch their third and largest fish. Everybody knows Yamamoto Senkos account for the majority of the fish caught on Lake Austin; taking a completely different approach, Lee and Andrew used jigging spoons and crankbaits to bring in the only limit of the evening. When asked how they fished the spoon, Lee mentioned following balls of bait and catching most of their fish in 30 feet of water.

Austin has been extremely unstable so far this year with the constant release schedules and changes in water temps. Eventually the lake will settle down and when it does you’d better be ready for some monster sacks to show up. Thanks again to everyone that came out and congrats to all the winners! See y’all next week!
